AI Prompt Examples: From Idea to Clear Brief

These examples show how to turn a rough request into a prompt that can be reviewed. The "after" versions are improved prompt text, not real generated outputs. Use your own approved assets and check any preview before publishing it.

Start With a Clear Task

Name the deliverable and the viewer's question first. For example, "make a video" leaves the subject, purpose and ending open. "Show how the actual travel mug lid opens in a short product demonstration" gives the draft a job. Add what must stay true to the supplied reference, then decide what the viewer should see at the end.

Anatomy of a Strong Prompt

A practical brief has five parts: task, references, opening, action and review constraint. For video, camera and audio can be added when they serve the task. For an image edit, identify what may change and what must stay fixed. The order helps a collaborator, or an AI workflow, distinguish the main objective from styling words.

Prompt text
Create a short product demonstration using the supplied lamp photos. Open on the real control dial, show a hand turning it once, then pull back to the lamp on a bedside table. Preserve the lamp shape and dial markings. Leave the final frame clear for approved product copy.

The expected review goal is an understandable action with accurate product details; this article does not include a generated result.

Before and After: Weak vs Strong Prompts

Example 1: product video

Before: Make a cool ad for a lamp.

After:

Prompt text
Use the approved lamp photos. Start with a close view of the actual dial, show one turn and the resulting light change, then end on the full product profile. Soft evening light; keep the real control layout and logo unchanged.

The revision replaces vague style language with a shot sequence and fidelity checks.

Example 2: social explainer

Before: Explain our app quickly.

After:

Prompt text
Use the approved three-step booking screens. Make a vertical explainer that opens with the user's goal, shows one action per screen and ends on the verified confirmation state. Leave room for human-checked captions; do not invent a feature or testimonial.

The revision anchors the story to real screens and keeps unsupported claims out.

Example 3: image edit

Before: Make this photo look premium.

After:

Prompt text
Keep the photographed backpack, its color and hardware unchanged. Replace only the background with a clean entryway in soft daylight. Maintain the original product scale and leave space above the bag for approved copy.

The revision defines the edit boundary. None of the "after" passages is evidence of a produced image or video.

Common Mistakes and Fixes

Too many subjects can make a short draft incoherent; choose one action per beat. A long style list can hide a missing purpose; write the viewer takeaway first. A prompt that says "use our logo" without supplying the file invites invention; attach the approved asset. If a preview changes a product detail, ask to preserve that detail and revise only the affected shot. If captions carry a claim, verify the wording outside the generation step.

AI Prompt Examples FAQ

Where are the generated outputs?

This page compares prompt wording only. It does not show or claim paired model outputs.

Should the prompt name a model?

Only when a model-specific control is necessary and available in your workflow. A clear task brief and accurate references are useful regardless of model choice.
